SHOW US WHAT YOU CAN DO IN ONE MINUTE! – COMPETITION!
MTM STUDIONET SAMPLE PACKS COMPETITION!!!
Hi everyone, I have the privilege to announce a new initiative that hopefully will be well received by all MTM Studionet friends.
The basic idea is this:
- Every MTM Studionet member is invited to create and offer a set of audio samples in any style (one set every couple of months... eventually every month if things go well)
- One Beat (Loop)
- One Bass Line
- One Hit/Chord
- Samples will have to be 44.1K, 16 Bit Wav, Stereo or Mono.
- At the end of the’ Sample Submission Month’ Music Tech Magazine will pick a small number of samples, 10 or more, from all samples submitted by us members. These selected samples must be used to create a 1 minute track in a style specified by MTM!
You can put these samples through hell if you want to but no other samples can be used! :)
- About 1 months (or more in the case of our first run) is given to us to build our 1 minute masterpiece and submit it to Music Tech Magazine
- Tracks should be submitted in 192Kbps MP3 format
Music Tech Magazine will choose one winner that will:
- Be featured in the magazine (YES!!!)
- Be awarded that month Studionet Competition Prize!!!
Prize: prize is to be decided/announced; especially for our first run, please do not expect mega huge prizes… (e.g. it could be a super cool Sample CD/DVD) if we take part in good numbers and the competition runs well then we can possibly attract even bigger prizes!
The core idea is to create ‘member generated sample packs’, you create a handful of samples and you will get hundreds of samples in return every month (789 Members and counting) which is great to start with. With every competition all these samples will be collected and added to the Mag DVD for ease of use for all members!
There are plans to expand this initiative further in interesting ways but we need to get it started first and grow from here
NOTE:
• all samples you provide must be original samples created by you and not copyrighted material taken from other sources
• any sample you submit to Studionet you will offer copyright-free for all other members to use as they please (including commercial purposes as long as said samples are not sold as individual samples or packaged samples for example in a sample CD)
• all rights for tracks created from these samples will be held by the track author
• submitting a track to MTM for the competition you allow MTM to publish the track on the Mag DVD, Studionet and for other mag related promotional purposes
• Competition is only open to registered MTM Studionet Members
Submitting sample sets
I will create a thread for sample-sets submissions. You will need to host these samples somewhere (server, file service, etc…) and add the download link to your post. I’m looking for free file-hosting places, feel free to suggest a few. If you zip your set into one file it would be better
Submitting tracks
Tracks will have to be emailed (or email link to track file) to MTM. An email address for track submission will be given out later. Only when a competition is over I will create a new area in Studionet where all tracks for that specific competition can be heard!
So to recap
• We submit sample sets
• MTM picks a few of them to put together a mini sample-pack for us to use to make a 1 minute track in a specific style
• We submit tracks made with the above mini sample pack
• MTM chooses a winner
• Winner is announced in the Magazine and Studionet
• Winner wins the competition prize and exposure in the magazine

15th NOV - Upload sample selection/competition 1 starts
15th JAN - Deadline/competition 1 ends (Christmas in the way )
1st FEB - Get new phase for sample submissions started
15th FEB - Upload sample submissions/competition 2 starts /winner of competition 1 announced
15th MAR - Deadline/competition 2 ends
1st APR - Get new phase for sample submissions started
Etc…
Start creating your set now! The sample submission thread will open soon and close on the 1st of November!!!
