So now that Sonar 7 has been released, what new feature(s) are you looking forward to most? Here are my top 5, in no particular order:
1. Smart MIDI Tools—The Inline Piano Roll in Sonar 6 was a big help, but you had to click around too much to switch between tools.
2. Multilane controller editing in Piano Roll view—Multiple controls can be viewed simultaneously, each in its own "lane" or combined.
3. Internal sidechaining!!!—For plug-ins that support it, including Sonar's and certain VSTs. This was arguably the biggest deficiency in Sonar's mix architecture.
4. External Insert Plug-in—This one won't have a big impact for me personally, but it's a big step forward for a lot of studios.
5. Shortcuts for assigning a series of audio inputs, and routing selected tracks/busses to the same input/output/main—This will save me time on every single project.

did not see this post. i have just posted about sonar 7.
mauro, so i take it you uses sonar, and have sonar 7,
is it worth going from 6 to 7, as i am only just finding my way around sonar 6
are their needed changes /additions, that make an immediate impact on it advancement from version 6.

yeh i got sonar 6 for the v vocal and the wicked vst and plugins dxi etc.
i have also been thinking about getting Dimension and Rapture .
i do most my own pattens with midi as suppose to sample clips.
i suppose as ableton i will move up with sonar, i know the overall sound quality/end result is better than ableton, but it is a lot more tediouse in use, i find that hand writing midi pattens in the piano roll was a bit awkward, especily as in my case i was finding i had to mark every 8-16 bars so i could keep track of where i was in the main view timeline ,but still it is hard to see at what point your other tracks are but i think with better markings in piano roll view it would help, maybe thats me, their is also a smaller piano view that can be got up aside the main view, but you can not edit in detail as much, so hopefully they have adressed this.
saying all this it is hard to go from a daw as ableton over to say sonar, but i will win in the end,, worth the effort.
thanks m8

Just had a better look, and this is well worth the upgrade, and some extra feature and these improvements may just help with these work flow issues i am having (to a cetain exstent.
dont suppose anyone knows the uk upgrade price from sonar 6
i cant get into my sonar account - account problems with my signing in awaiting support.
sonar 7 is well worth the upgrade from 6 - i love the new plugins - LP-64 EQ and LP-64 Multiband compressor - they are both pretty CPU intensive though but i use them only for mastering anyway - very nice indeed.
cheers Chade

yep me too! LP-64 EQ and LP-64 Multiband compressor And i can also use these in Ableton and other hosts as they are VST. I was also looking forward to the step sequencer, but funny enough now i have it i dont really bother with it,
it feels a bit gimicky and the layout/view i find crammed and i find it still better to open up and edit a midi track in more depth.
However i can say i am loving the v-vocal Audio to midi conversion, i can quite simpily drag midi to my desk top and then put into a folder to view in ableton projects, not that i am in to ripping off big lead lines yet ! yet he says with twisted ideas in mind lol. but also great for dropping in those small simple audio sample to midi for inspiration.
Sonar is a remarkable all in one solution, that although not my main daw at this time, no doubt it will takes it place in due course, and as already in my early learning it is proving a plus to certain aspects of my studio work.
