Live Electronic Music
Had an awesome time recording the track "Legs Opener" during the hols. This track is 100% live - the only editing is truncation of the original into something more 'radio' (the original recording is about 12 min long!!!).
This is simply 1 x SP-606 sync'd to 1 x MC-505 + 1 x Stanton TT all being recorded through a mixer into Soundforge. LIVE.

Sample tastic
Although I didn't ever get around to finishing an entry to the comp (it's waaaaaay to weird trying to reinvent your own samples!) I did have a crack at the concept.
The track 'Dayclubber' (on my page) was created entirely from Music Tech and FM/CM samples, from cover discs. Every single sound, including vox, has been lifted from different free sample packs. My brief to myself was thus: Make a track using only free samples from cover disks.

Love The New Acid
Just finished a new track over the weekend (Home Again) using Acid Pro 7 and I must say how much I love the new version.
Used the prog for the whole thing; recording vox, recording hardware, recording records (!) and using VSTi instruments all in the same window. Very versatile and still as quick to use as ever!
I ended up stretching the vinyl loop (the piano loop half-way through the track) I used to over 30bpm faster than the original loop, with absolutely no artifacts whatsoever, so I say t… Continue

- Yeah, I am thinking about thomann.de only they have a largest music equipment shipping network.
The tracks on my page are mixed using Genelec 1031A. I don't know KRK will be good as Genelec's or not. They sound good and shiny but they are soo pricey for a home use and you have to have a nice treated room for them otherwise they will sound shit. I have a great experience working with those monsters.
I have almost finished the basic structure of my MTMcomp2 entry track, just icing on the cake is left. At the moment I am not sure about the sound because I am working on it at home. For such sound mangling projects a good sounding studio is a must.

- yeah, i tried to get into makin them old school funk sounds but i had no luck (could never find the right samples) so with beats like hands down its basically just sounds from reason played with my midi keyboard over an mpc drum beat that ive made. i dont have a whole lot of plugins as im on the dole at the moment and 1. havent got much money and 2. dont know where to buy good plugins from. i didnt know u could use a vinyliser and make stuff sound vintage. man i wish i could though cos then i could record my sister singing, crank the pitch right up and use a vinyliser and people would be like "where the fuk did he sample those vintage sounding lyrics?" do you know anywhere where i can get this plugin? i need to start up a collection of plugins i think, theni can do stuff to my vocals. its a slow and steady progression. the only bad thing is the only other hip hop producer in my area makes a american sounding "club banger" style of beats so hes a bit of a pain in the ass to work with because if your beat doesnt sound like somethin by timbaland he just hates it and doesnt wanna hear it. i dont rhyme about bitches and guns and shit so i dont feel the need to make US sounding hip hop beats. (im not dissing them theyre just not for me) so being the only hip hop producer i know of in my area means everything i know is 100% self taught due to trial and error lol so its a slow and steady self-taught process this beat making, but i just love it, i enjoy nothing more then just coming home and getn elbow deep in music.

- ohk thanx i just signed up to sp forums. yeah i tend not to take offence to constructive critisism, its like learning to play footy, if nobody tells you that you forward pass to much you cant better yourself and your game will be on a much lower level. the only critisism i dont like id destructive stuff. bad critisism = "your music is shithouse" good critisism "the guitar is too loud, you should try putting some reverb on the keys, the vocals need cleaning up" alot of people in my local hip hop community are like little girls and are so sensetive about theyre music if someone told them "the drums are too quiet" they wouldent say a thing to you but go and talk shit about you to everyone in the scene until it gets back to you. its bullshit. i dunno about everyone else but i make music for fun, because it makes me feel good, how can it be fun if your guna have a cry everytime someone tells you bluntly what would make the beat sound better. they should accept it and thank them for theyre honesty and help and go home and turn the fucking drums up lol it all comes down to the persons character. i figure that its up to a person to make something a negative situation or a positive situation. i could have taken what that guy said about my music and got angry and abused a complete stranger over the internet - gaining nothing, but wasting alot of my time, or i could have taken in what he said and used it positively, i did this and took what he said on board and will use his advice to better myself in the future. with the track that has lyrics over it you said that the chorus could change up or something, got any ideas of what i should do? like do you mean a new instrument? change the drum pattern? drop the original loop? hav a listen to it and if you can come up with an idea and i might try and fix the chorus up, it is a little to repetetive.
oh and i duno how much music ill make in melbourne cos ill be with the navy but ive heard it has a really good hip hop scene there so ill be sure to go see a gig or something before i get posted to a different base. im thinkn of getting one of them usb wireless internet connections and just taking my laptop, midi keyboard, soundcard and drum machine on the ship and uploading the music i make in my spare time to the internet.

Nice, your mixes sound always good to me that's why I asked. I've worked on NS10's for years. What do you think about KRK's? I am really looking forward to buy a pair of KRK Rokit with 6"bass driver for home, I think they would be good and best in this price range. But damn there are no KRK dealer.
