A brief intro about what I am aiming to achieve...my love of music, began from an early age. I was twelve when I began DJ'ing, I had discovered hip hop and rap, the year was 1979.
Long before Malcolm McClaren brought us Buffalo Gals, a lesser know DJ called Mike Shaft introduced over the Manchester airwaves his weekly slot called TCOB. He was dropping tracks that were so different than the "pop" stuff everyone else was receiving. I heard a track called "Body music" by a group called The Strikers. I needed this track.
I discovered a small record shop in downtown Manchester called Spin Inn; it was tiny, it had its own charts and it rocked. I used to go very early on a Saturday morning, the week's imports from The States had just landed. I swear you could still smell the aviation fuel, they were so fresh!
I would just hang around, a small white kid, in a man's record shop, but I was addicted. Then, Mike, who was the only guy behind the counter who entertained me seriously ( what this guy didn't know about dance music wasn't worth bothering about) asked me if I had heard this track. The record was called Wildstyle. The bassline kicked in, I was blown away!!! The year was 1980.
Over the following weeks, tracks such as Hashim's Al Nafyish, Herbie Hancock's Rockit, Globe & Whizz kid, Captain Rock, Master Flash's Whitelines, Shannon, Warp 9, Soulsonic Force etc...and many more all hit the streets. It wasn't just an exciting time, it was a major change in music. Urbanology was beginning, street kids had an outlet, I had discovered a part of myself that I didn't know was in me. It was amazing and I knew music of this type would be with me wherever I went.
I have DJ'ed in many environments, small bars, big clubs etc...but for some reason I never managed to crack it into the big time. I managed to gain enough pennies to get my own set up and I began with Cubase in 1997. It wasn't easy, my pc wasn't good enough and mastering was something I had to guess at.
The next big landmark came with Reason. This program completely blew me away, but what was letting me down was the finished article.
Again, I have saved pennies and last year I upgraded my system, interface etc... so that I can run Protools Maudio version. It has blown me away again!
I am now getting the hang of things and I now have a clear picture of where I am heading and what I want to achieve...my own unique sound.
I call it Morr Ruff Produckshunz, because it is ruff around the edges, it is mine and just like The Sex Pistols, it is merely a way for me to express myself in a musical format.
Anyone who is scared of expressing themselves should take some time and look back at The Pistols. Why? because it broke boundaries, it allowed frustration, anger and repression to have a way of coming out. So too did hip hop, rap and electro.
Morr Ruff Produckshunz has this concept at its heart...

thanks for the honest feedback, it's always 'very welcome' all helps me a great deal too. Actually the tracks I have up here, are mostly from years ago when I first started learning to use garage band.
Regarding logic- Well, it's still a bit confusing (bit like me lol)
Thanks again

just checked out Comfort Zone, i did not Know you where making D&B, simple but good track, the only thing that did not seem right was the intro hats or sidestick you have used all the way threw, it is fine at about 44seconds on, but i think a little repetitive and upfront for the intro and the ending, so maybe thinning out the patten or putting it in to the distant some more with some phazing fx etc. before this 44 sec , teese the patten a little more minimal before the 44 then the later kick in.
Also checked out feel the... its got an early frankie knuckles vibe going on, cool.
No reason why you dont get a release with these if you have not already_well done.
