Yes
Okay, so I am a newbie when it comes to recording music digitally. I have been having fun getting started and figured I would post some of what I have done. I really have no idea what I am doing when it comes to mixing/editing/mastering, so the songs don't sound that good, and they are badly missing bass and drums, which I have no way to record at the moment. Some of the songs sound hollow in spots where I hope to have drum fills and build ups eventually. So for now, this is what I have done in this learning process. Oh, and I cannot sing, so apologies for that, but somebody had to do it.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Bryn

I just wanted to publicly say thank you to Bryn for adding such a great drum track to the song Sunshine for me. I know he put a lot of time into it, and it turned out great. THANKS BRYN!

I still have to mix it some, but I couldn't wait to go ahead and post it.

New Toys

Ok, so I have recently gotten a new computer with 4 Amd Phenom processors and 5GB of ram just to record music on. I also got a new Edirol PCR 800 midi controller keyboard and Sonar Home Studio 7 XL. I am really loving the new toys, and am currently remastering my old tracks. I am able to do so much more now thanks to the new software and tons of plugins I have aquired.
So hopefully my production will be getting better now, and I will continue to learn more daily on how to use my DAW best. Always… Continue

Getting Started

Well, I am finally all set up at MTM. I have been wanting to get into digital recording for a while and be able to post some stuff here. I found about MTM from my friend Ian in Ireland, and couldn't wait to get going with my own page. I have been enjoying learning how to use the DAWs and how to mix/produce songs. I still have a lot to learn, but it's fun.

This is a fun hobby for me because I love music so much and have been playing guitar for a long time now, but never had a way to record my ow… Continue

Hey man. Turns out none of my stuff is in .mp3 format, so I can't put anything up. If you can give me some tips on how to take Audacity files and convert em to .mp3, that'd be much appreciated.

Thanks D, you should try it, its incredible how changing your working process like that can free up ideas. Its worth doing just for that alone. I recommend the first SampleFreq challenge too...

I really like your songs. The recordings demonstrate what you are capable of, but it's true that the recordings are not fully realised.

In track 2 or 3, the timing of the rhythm guitar went right out and it needed more compression to pull things together and BOOST THE VOLUME. Is there a LIMITER in your version of SONAR? If so, put this right over the master bus and drive it a little harder than normal without distorting the giutars too much - and re-record them to a decent rhthym track.

You can press ALT-L on any clip in the main window and it will form a GROOVE-CLIP. DRAG this out and place it where you need a rhythm track. Get loops from a sample pack, magazine or free off the internet - there are sights for this.
