Hi James,

It has changed somewhat, although it's still the same Logic deep under all that new GUI stuff!

Rick Rubin is so damn versatile, I feel it ought to be obligatory to see him as a hero. :P Run DMC, Jay-Z, Beastie Boys (starting Def Jam in the mean time), but also Slipknot and Red Hot Chili Peppers and whatnot... :)

Pro tools aaaaaaaaaaargh!

Hi
Recently i bought a Pro tools M-box. I checked the spec on the pro-tools website and it all matches with my current system. However i have never experienced such teething problems before. I'm having problems with CPU overload, program crashes, in fact anything that can go wrong it has!
I keep a pretty well maintained and spec'd computer here and it actually exceeds the system requirements. All i can now think is that i have wasted, what is to me a lot of money, and time with this thing!

Sonar to Cubase

After using Sonar for around 5 years now i have finally decided to Swap back to Cubase. Several reasons have effected this, Features, universality, GM sound set, score-ing facilities ect, all seem to look and feel a lot better.
I started using Sonar purely because the school I worked at insisted upon using the program to teach music tech a level , I then continued using it because tons of half finished projects I had whilst working there were in cakewalk audio bundle formats.

I still use a hardware sampler!

Hi all
Yes you heard it right i still use a hard ware sampler, the Emu e6400 to be exact, when i bought it three years ago they were selling for £400 ish but of course they have really dropped in price since, so for that reason alone i loath to get rid of it and upgrade to a software sampler. Give the amount of time it takes to piece together a decent sound set i can really see the pros to upgrading. i have never really looked into whats on the market either, which really brings me to the po… Continue

Music production is a big old subject and there is a lot of things to learn as you go along, after all no matter how long you've been doing something, there is always something you don't know.
