Profile Information

How would you categorise your musical output?
My own? Nu-jazz, funky, a little trippy. I like the drums to have variation and movement. I like my tracks to progress organically and to shift in mood.I like to mix in live percussion when possible, though I love out-and-out electronic sounds too.
I produce all kinds of stuff for other people and have pop & country projects on the go currently
What are your favourite pieces of studio hardware?
My Focusrite Saffire and my little Korg Ampworks Bass amp modelling box (a present from my brother in the US)
Which Digital Audio Workstation application do you use?
Logic Pro. I've used this family of sequencers all the way since 1988 (eek - 19 years...) when I had a 1mb Atari ST and C-Lab Creator, which it took me an awfully long time to swap for a G3 with Emagic Logic 3.5 in 1998 (this has to do with the expensive nature of parenthood, to some extent...)
The first time I saw computer sequencing was 20 years ago in 1987 - Performer running on a Mac. PCs then were laughable as platforms for any sort of music work and Macs were hideously expensive, so STs ruled in the UK.
What's your favourite digital instrument?
EXS24, EVP88, ES2, Sculpture, ES1 (for basslines) , Remedy, Crystal. Favourite FX plugins? Supaphaser, Saffire Reverb, CamelPhat and CamelSpace.
Who are your musical/production influences or heroes?
Herbie Hancock, Incognito, Prince, Me'shell Ndegeocello, David Bowie

New Samples On My Website In Various Formats

Find Them Here

I have a modest collection of sampler instruments originally only in EXS24 format, some live percussion and some synth sounds.

I have redone the original multisamples into Halion, Gigastudio, NNXT, Soundfonts and Akai S5/6000 formats, courtesy of CDXtract.

I have also redone a collection of 20 drum loops into Apple Loop format as well as WAV.

The whole website has a new look, but I'm having trouble getting stuff to lay… Continue

Current work...

I am currently in the middle of selling a house and trying to find a new place to live, as well as the good ol' day job which has become heavier work than last year. Finding time and psychological space to get tracks done has become a lot harder.

I have been working on material I have produced for singer/writer Brian Crisp, who is now back in Cairns in Australia. You can find some of it here.Brian is not only gigging original tracks no… Continue

Demn!!! Nice Kick Drum on a Wild Drum did you EQ it at about 3.4kH? Cause it has this very nice sound of the pedal as well as roundness. Lovin' the mix...
Those drums are MIDI though I think...Even though there is nothing wrong about it at they sound good no matter what.
Very beautiful progressions of the instruments.
Cheers mate. Keep up the good work.
