I dunno about that. Years ago, yes. Go back ten years and you used to be able to walk into any newsagent and have a choice between 4-5 different music technology mags. The only one that most newsagents stock now is SOS, if you're lucky. The rest, ...

New song up - hands down - please read this

ok, so today ive had the house to myself and its finally quiet for once (a rare occurance at my household) so i took advantage of the quiet and recorded 5 songs that i had already written and produced a beat for, i decided to upload the most "mainstream" sounding one out of the lot of them to give people a bit of a taste of what i do. this track has a bit less of a story or lyrical content then most of my tracks but this is because last year when i did my first live performance i came to realise… Continue

music tech mag

to the australian music tech magazine readers, i was just wondering where exactly do you guys buy the magazine from? i heard about the magazine a while ago and searched high and low in bookstores and newsagents to find it and could never find it anywhere, i even looked in music stores and couldent find the magazine anywhere. then just recently a huge westfield shopping centre opened up at kotara and the third story at the top of the shopping centre is a library/borders book store, i only went up… Continue

Ok man sorry! You go your way !!! It feels like I inadvertently stepped on your tail by sayin "Timbaland", LOL!
Take a chill dude, I was not asking you to copy him rather I said have a listen and get an idea (could be anything) because that shit is not easy to create. Thats why I listen and respect all kind of well produced music, whether it is classical, folk, orshestral, country, trance, pop/rnb, hiphop, experimental etc.

Cheers,

http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/vinyl/

:::Free vinylizer that sounds great. Go get it!

http://www.gersic.com/plugins/

:::great source of free plugins, and esier to access than KVR, which is of course the main source of free plugs.

http://www.kvraudio.com/

KVR has the advantage of having a better search engine, so you could search for vinyl simulators, tape delays, compressors or whatever you need..

Hope that helps.

Yo..Yo..Yo..Wasup Yo!!!

Just give me some hip..hop..hip..hop.....LOL !

Dude, listened your tracks, some things lacking in all the tracks, they are not in finished form yet. Liked the second track's bollywood sample though. Hey, check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_958K3-gQP0 you would love this and will surely give you some ideas to transform it into a well produced bollywood remix. It is a fun song, well produced and puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it, LOL. Also listen to Bombay by Timbaland from his last album "Shock Value" for production reference.

Cheers,
Kashif

For sure take the 500 on board if you can - a little beat machine and a pair of cans is all you need to get down ideas when you are inspired.

As for the chorus in "Hands Down", I'm pretty old-school (my hip hop era was Eazy E, Run DMC, Tone Loc, LL Cool J etc. LOL), so I can hear the old-school 'loop' running in my head during the chorus - you know, just a loop from an old funk record or somesuch.

The cool thing these days is you no longer have to actually use an old record to get the effect - just program a funky groove that sounds like it's from an old record and you're away. Use a 'vinylizer' plugin over the loop to create that really raw and dirty record effect.

You could apply a little distortion to the lyrics during the chorus, too - like a guitar amp sim or summat (like Timbaland sometimes does on his productions). That could be getting too cliche though...

You have an awesome attitude man, especially for a young bloke! You'll fit into the melbs hip hop scene for sure. No pretention goes a long way down here.

Check out SP-Forums.com - even though you're on the MP, I think you'd get along with the dudes on there like a house on fire - they are all about RAW hiphop. A few aussies on there too, and everyone's really freindly/helpful. Quite the opposite of MPC-Forums really. LOL.

Fair play man, I use an MPC2500 but I do like messing with Live Reason and Sonar. I think its good to mix things up like that when ur makin beats..

Listened to "Hands Down", some nice flow on that track bro. Keep them comin.

Peace..

"Hands Up" - cool track man - perhaps change the beat structure during the chorus? I dunno much about hiphop but it seems like the music in the chorus should change up a little?

"Red-belly Black Snake/ Bass Strait" - very cool aussie rhyme. Keep it up man!
