Profile

How would you categorise your musical output?
Eclectic mix of everything from folk to funk, disco to D&B, jazz to zydeco, rock to retro psychedelia. Genre's are useful for classifying individual tracks, but I don't see them as pigeonholes that my works need to fit into.
What are your favourite pieces of studio hardware?
Tascam FW1804, Alto CLE 8.0, Alto DI-4, Yamaha Motif ES Rack Synth, Roland RSM 90 Monitors. Would love to add a Tascam FW1884 to the rig in the future to get access to motorized controllers and extra Mic pres. Once I win the lottery I'll add a couple of Focusrite 828s with the ADAT expansion to the system and move to a Mackie X.200 mixer and finally get me those expensive AKG and Neumann mics I've been drooling over for a decade or so.
Which Digital Audio Workstation application do you use?
Cakewalk Sonar 7.0 Producer, Reason 4.0 + various CM Studio plugins.
What's your favourite digital instrument?
Thor is pretty cool - looking forward to getting deeper into the guts of it to find out how to make it really sing. Dimension's not a bad soft-synth either.
Who are your musical/production influences or heroes?
Paul Mac, Daniel Johns, Ben Folds, Bob Clearmountain, Midnight Oil, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave (Birthday Party/Bad Seeds/Grinderman - it's all good), Tori Amos, Mike Oldfield

Taking a breather in "Sunny" Seattle

Howdy folks - I figured I'd throw down a quick blog note to udpate you on what's going on. I'm currently back in Seattle (after a 3 week stint back in Adelaide) and hurtling towards the finishing line of the professional development program I've been on since the first week of April. I've learnt a lot about myself, and picked up a new nickname in the process - my "Call-Sign" in the program is "I/O"! Kind of makes sense that I hang about on music technology sites, right? ;) Seattle's a really i… Continue

Hi, thanks for your message.

I recorded these demo vocals directly to PC using Adobe Audition through a Sure SM58 and a Behringer PMP2000 Powered amplifier.

I'm going to be making my first studio recording soon so hopefully that'll sound great!

Thanks again,

Alice

Hey Man,
LOL. I wondered why you went into an explanation.
You must have deleted a post, did you ?

I have noticed that unless you sort of pre-explain, things you type are not always taken correctly, I've seen fights because of misconstrued emails.

Oh, BTW, my old dear is alive and well. Just thought I'de put the "Oh No's" onto Mr Eberlein to spin him about a bit. I couldn't resist running him around a bit once he had started.

I am a bad man, but some of it is funny. You should try being in the same room as me. You would either have a brilliant laugh or you would attack me. LOL. It is always the same.
Lucky I did Judo and Karate for 16 years, and I'm a drummer. Seems to work well together. Watch out for the hands and feet.

I didn't actually mean to upset him, but, he sort of created it himself. He got the same review everybody else gets.
I take this review business seriously, but he couldn't handle it. Shame.

Thanks,
Throbber.

Hi

That product was actually faulty. On Saturday I returned it to the dealer and today I called him to know his analysis. He said sorry sir there was a problem with the product. Now they'll ship another one within 2 weeks. Gosh, but it was a great experience I've learned alot from it.
Thanks for your support, so nice of you.

Cheers,

ok, there are presets on Axiom for the softwares by numbers and I've checked all of them.
I've tried to contact M-Audio as well and describe my problem. They said to reset Axiom and using a software (Enigma) restore factory presets. And try again if that doesn't work, return your device for testing/repair/replacement.
