Profile

How would you categorise your musical output?
Quirky digital synthesis with acoustic elements that mix samples, synthesizers and live recordings.

I would like to find applications for my music in the hospital and aged care environments. One use would be as a complementary therapy to assist people with anxiety or mental disorders. The type of music I am making at the moment is not yet appropriate for that type of application, but I continue to develop in that direction.

Music and sound has such a profound effect on people's moods and emotions that I think it is important to use that wisely.
What are your favourite pieces of studio hardware?
Yamaha MSP7's, Maton Acoustic Guitar, Edirol UA-25 interface and a RHODE NT-2A mic.

Saving to get the Yamaha subwoofer.
Which Digital Audio Workstation application do you use?
Cakewalk SONAR 7 PRODUCER EDITION, Project 5 v2, Kinetic.
What's your favourite digital instrument?
Z3ta2, Rapture, Dimension Pro.
Who are your musical/production influences or heroes?
Jack Johnson, The Beatles, Electro, music for relaxation, classical music, MusicTech Magazine and the technology that makes it possible.

I have spent a lifetime studying music, but have only recently begun studying production techniques.

Sound for Relaxation

Fairly new to computers, I've been working out how to program soft synths and make drum rhythms etc. I do these recordings for fun and play guitar in a band for money. I also work in a hospital as a nurse. I would like to find applications for my music in the hospital and aged care environments. many, many studies have shown music as a therapy to be HUGELY succesful in rehab and treatment of autism. Also believe it or not the deaf (BEAT). I also have seen studies showing that mixing and playing music triggers nueron to fire in the same way a deep meditators brain would fire. I also believe that music can really help Alzheimers paitents, not in a curative way, but in a way that a smell can put in a new reality. For example my mother passed when I was twelve. When we packed away her stuff, the clothing with her perfume just destroyed me. Filled my reality with MEMORY.

Good luck

Aeroguard... It was you... You present yourself in a very professional manner... If there is anyone in Oz who has the potential to extend sound and vibe beyond it's shores, it's you. You have got it going on cobber... Plus, what you are about with health and core... You're on the way to becoming some sort of hero. Stick with it, you are on the right track for sure... I sure miss Sydney, especially the women, weather and life-style... Bondi, Coogee, Whale Beach... I'm freezing my ass off in Germany... Lost my tan, I'm almost white! Plus, you're into "Binaural Technology"... Come on, one person should no have everything! Well, I'm glad it's you.

Yo have got a "Sound" keep developing it and having fun... Your 'Technical' skills will get better as you continue exploring and experimenting, your sound will improve as your gear does, you 'Aussie's' like doing things on the cheap that's for sure, I'm suprised you didn't say: "Mate, me mums old toaster broke and she was gonna throw it out, horrified I shouted "CrikeyI Whaddayadoinlove? I can make an Amp fer me guitar with that"!!! You guys are inventive, however, invest time in your music and a few pieces of Hardware. I know things are expensive in 'Oz', but you MUST have a Good Interface, otherwise your great music will not be taken seriously, don't let the "Sonics" be your "Weak Link"... Save your money, beg, borrow, call grandma, stop spending money on beer and save. Because you are onto something... Like to hear more of your guitar incorporated, in fact, the music should compliment the guitar, hmmm, but then that would change your style, forget everything I said. You keep having fun and "Aveagoodweekendcobber"
