Profile

How would you categorise your musical output?
World Soul , R and B, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Inspirational...
What are your favourite pieces of studio hardware?
Macintosh G5 Dual 2GHz. However, my first love was a Macintosh PowerBook 864. Graduted to a 17" PowerBook before my demands 'OverPowered' my PowerBooks.

Both now handle menial tasks such as E-mails! BTW the Macintosh PowerBook 864 MHz. could handle 60 Tracks of Audio... Using a RME Hammerfall DSP Multiface and RME Digital Audio Card/Bus. It could Record 8 Tracks of Audio, Live. Never failed... The 17" 1GHz. functioned even better, but I could fry an egg on it! Plus, it whined all the time. (Very Noisy) I only used MIDI a little, but it was not a problem. However, GarageBand Macintosh "Drag & Drop" Software would max out the Memory after three or four tracks! Go figure. I used GarageBand once or twice... It was only $50.00 (It was still a waste of money).
Which Digital Audio Workstation application do you use?
Logic Pro 7. I also have Cubase, sentimental. It was the first thing I bought when I heard you could make music on a computer in 1992! "I need a what? Whats a "Sequencer"? What's an Interface? A Keyboard Controller? How much does that cost? How much!!!! I never got around to using it... Its become part of my 'Musical Luggage'
What's your favourite digital instrument?
KURZWEIL? Don't have a clue. Can't tell you how many GB are just being stored for use perhaps one day... Sigh... I have Stuff 'N Thangs I've never explored other than purchasing and installing... Spectrasonics Stylus, Triogy and Atmosphere, Steinbergs, Virtual Guitarist, Hypersonic, Groove Agent, Native Instruments, Guitar Rig, Melodyne, Antares I went on a spending spree at Amptown the best Music Retailer in Hamburg, maybe the Planet, plus they "Know What They Are Selling"
Who are your musical/production influences or heroes?
Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy! Motown, Philadelphia International, Nile Rodgers and the late great Bernard Edwards "Chic", Tom Browne, "Jamaica Funk"... Stax, Sly and The Family Stone, James Brown, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Issac Hayes, Lou Rawls, Joe Williams, Johnny Mathia, Jerry Butler, Four Tops, Funkadelic, Ohio Players, Eagles, Chicago, Tower Of Power, Mandrill, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind and Fire... Heaps more... Did I mention Berry Gordy? If not, Berry Gordy.

Hiss and Hum is like static on the phone, a rattle in the car, a person who wheezes... I don't even like hiss and hum live... Let's drop this discussion because we will NEVER agree on this subject... NEVER...

Like I said: I own a BOSS GT8 that does the same trick. No humming or hissing and still a good sound. Or at least good enough for me. But I also do use a regular tube-amp for some recordings, just to get that humming and hissing in my recordings. Digital sounds and effects sometimes just are way to clean and why go through the extra trouble of tube emulation plugins and other lo-fi stuff when the real deal is right in front of me? :)
